The Community Hospice's

Grief Services


The Community Hospice provides free support services for anyone who has experienced the death of a family member or friend. These services are available to everyone, regardless of whether the loved one was a Hospice patient. 

All of our bereavement services are free of charge and include:

  • Grief Counseling - individual or family grief counseling for all ages.
  • Grief Support Groups - for adults grieving a family member or friend.
  • Wave Riders - a weekly support group for families with grieving children.
  • Camp Erin - a weekend overnight camp for grieving children aged 6-17 years old.
  • Community Support - education, training, outreach and support related to grief and loss.

About Us

The Community Hospice is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, accredited by the Community Health Accreditation Program. We are part of St. Peter's Health Partners, and are privileged to work with every hospital in the region to provide hospice services. We serve more than 4,300 seriously ill patients and their families a year.

Our Mission

The Community Hospice serves seriously ill people and their families during the process of dying and grieving. We enhance quality of life with comprehensive, compassionate services that respect the dignity of those we serve.

We offer support and comfort in eight counties in upstate New York: Albany, Schenectady, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Columbia, Greene, Montgomery and Washington.
